BEVERLY JOHNSON: Style Icon, Super Model, Mother, Daughter, Fashion Icon, The Actress, The Super Model, Fashion Trendsetter, Fierce, Diva!

Today, on Edwina LaShan Fashion Blog, we pay tribute to Our Style Icon, The Gorgeous, Beverly Johnson! Beverly Johnson is a Style Icon and Fashion Model well respected in the industry! She opened the door for many African American Models of today!

But before we start the Tribute, let's learn a little about Our Icon...

Beverly Johnson was born October 13, 1952 Buffalo, New York. She is an American Model, Actress, and Businesswoman. She made history when she rose to fame as the first black model to appear on the cover of American Vogue in August 1974. A year later, she became the first black woman to appear on the cover of the French edition of Elle. She was the star of the reality series Beverly's Full House on the Oprah Winfrey Network which focuses on her attempt to heal the flawed mother/daughter relationship with her daughter, Anansa Sims.

The New York Times named Johnson one of the 20th century's most influential people in fashion. Given the success of her 1990's wig line, she has been a leading influencer in hair care, especially among women of color. Her company now sells luxury hair extensions

Born into a middle-class family in Buffalo, New York, Johnson was a champion swimmer in her youth and aspired to be a lawyer. She was studying political science at Northeastern University when she tried her hand at modeling.

She quickly landed an assignment with Glamour and began working steadily. Johnson would go on to appear on more than 500 magazine covers, including her groundbreaking Vogue cover in August 1974. Johnson's appearance on the cover changed the beauty ideal in fashion, and by 1975, every major American fashion designer began using African American models.

In addition to modeling, Johnson has also written a book, Beverly Johnson's Guide to a Life of Health and Beauty,[and embarked on an acting career.

The absolutely stunning Beverly Johnson has turned heads for years and years to come! She looks amazing in the photo below, with Big hair and a gold slingy material halter!

What's Trending Wednesday??? Vibrant and Bright Colored Suits!

What's Trending Wednesday???

Colorful Pant and Short Suits for Women this Summer!

Color pants and short suits for women have become the breeze of the summer! Blowing in right at the top of the list. This summer,  women's fashion, just might be the next take over.

The trend brings a bold, edgy, and sophisticated look on women. With the bright and vivid colors its becomes a chic and stylish feel. I personally love the look I found, because its very radiant, and a super fun look, when executed correctly.

The pic below shows the fabulous, June Ambrose, with a popping pink suit and black as the lining with a touch of an orange hat just to add a twist to the attire.

I found that the outfit is really focused on summer life.

What I mean in more depth,  is that, the outfit is surrounded on summer events such as Charity events, business or personal luncheons, fun bridal events, local entertaining events sponsored by local citizens and organizations and many more. I personally would love to wear mine at women empowerment events were women come and celebrate together.

Who better to rock the trend for a social event than the Social Celebrity Fashion Blogger herself, Claire Sulmers! Claire looks amazing in this Electric Blue Suit! She brings her own little twist to the look, by wearing the same color throughout her whole outfit! Which is really a risk, But fun! Considering that a lot of Fashionistas have strayed away from Matchy, Matchy! By Claire proves, that this, in particular, is what makes fashion so unique! The fact that you do, the complete opposite of the norm.

Even actress Lauren London manages to bring the look alive with an all red pant suit! She accents her look with a white blouse and nude pumps.

The look is actually easier then it seems to find. There is really not many places were you can find both sets of top and bottem. Some suggestions are listed below!

BLAZERS: JCPenney's, Target, Sear's,Charlotte Russe, Forever 21, Dillard's, and your local thrift stores!

PANTS LONG/SHORT: JCPenney's, Dillard's, Target, Forever 21, Macy's, some online stores, local boutiques, and thrift stores may have some.
