Before we start our Fashion Tribute, let's learn a little about Our Style Icon. Beverly Grace Jones was born May 19, 1948. She is a Jamaican singer, actress and model. She was born in Spanish Town, Jamaica and raised by her grandparents. When she was thirteen she and her siblings moved to her parents' home in Syracuse, New York. Jones started out as a model, initially in New York state, then in Paris, working for Yves St. Laurent, Claude Montana, and Kenzo Takada, and appearing on the covers of Elle, Vogue, and Stern working with Helmut Newton, Guy Bourdin, and Hans Feurer.
Much known for her movie appearances in movies such as "Boomerang" with Eddie Murphy and "A View To Kill" with James Bond. Grace Jones was also a very popular model, and she's also a singer.
Grace Jones made her mark in Fashion trends with her daring looks! She was never afraid to take a chance! She was the face behind the 80s tom boy trend. You could catch her wearing flat top hair styles and low hair cuts. Grace was very sexual as well! She was very comfortable with her sexuality!
Jones influenced the cross dressing movement of the 1980s and has been an inspiration for artists, including Annie Lennox, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Brazilian Girls, Róisín Murphy, Nile Rogers, Santigold, and Basement Jaxx.
